MONICA SAROBBA (AKA SAMMONIA)
I am an Italian artist with a background of academic fine arts studies in Verona and Bologna.
I spent a long time working in art workshops following the Bruno Munari method. From 2021 onwards, I’ve focused solely on my own artistic research.
THE POWER OF DESEASE
As a cancer survivor I found solace in collage.
Collage became my medium of choice in 2020. Its flexibility has been a godsend as I've navigated the physical challenges of chemotherapy.
IT IS ALL ABOUT WOMEN
I deconstruct fashion magazine giving women a one-of-the-kind identity.
BRIDGING PAPER, TECH AND NATURE
My art springs from fleeting compositions, captured digitally. I employ fragments of paper and magazines, custom-blended inks and watercolors. Each element is saved, ready to be reimagined. I often incorporate botanical specimens gathered on my walks, my "harvest for art," into my portraits. My studio is evolving into a botanical sanctuary.
TEMPORARINESS AND EXPERIMENTATION
I strive to create unique and unrepateable pieces from reusable material, embracing the essence of temporariness.
I fragment, arrange, digitize, and repeat. Ephemerality is my being and experimentation is my lifeblood.
TWO PLACES TO BE
I split my activity between Verona and Berlin, bridging ancient history with modernity, roots with becoming.
